Skilled nursing facilities can be highly skilled, high-tech environments where the most up-to-date practices and amenities are provided. They can also be dangerous homes where residents are not well cared for. News outlets typically discuss the latter but ignore the thousands of excellent facilities who care deeply and care well for the patient.

One of the main initiatives of the Association of Skilled Nursing Providers is to educate the public about the potentials and pitfalls of skilled nursing. When a facility is run well, residents and their families can be happy and grateful for the care. When they are not, the results can be devastating.

Through education initiatives that include events, white papers, literature, and media outreach, we hope to educate the public about how to select a high-quality nursing home or short-term facility and obtain the best possible care.
